Question Nos. 1 to 10 are Short Answer Type. Answer any 5 questions.

1. How were the Aryans regarded till recently?

ANS- Till recently the Aryans were regarded as the earliest invaders of India.

2. What is preferable to fanatic devotion ?

ANS- Toleration, which had led to the sufferance of civil and even indifference to the values of life, is preferable to the fanatic devotion which leads to the denial and persecution of all other values but its own.

3. Why did Alexander Aris accept the Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of his mother?

ANS- Alexander Aris had accepted the Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of his mother because she was under detention by the Burmese Government and was unable to accept it personally by attending the ceremony in Oslo.

4. Why was sledging over ?

ANS- Sledging was over, because the snow had stopped to fall and began to melt.

5. Are the girls of the same age?

ANS- No, they are not of the same age.

11. Write a paragraph in about 80 word’s on ‘A caged bird finds it difficulty to sing’.

ANS- A free bird flies on the wind, as if floating downstream until the wind current shifts, and the bird dips its wings in the orange sunlight, and he dares to call the sky his own.But a bird that moves angrily and silently in a small cage can barely see through either the cage bars or his own anger His wings are cut so he cannot fly and his feet are tied together, so he opens his throat to sing.The caged bird sings fearfully of things he does not know, but still wants, and his song can be heard from as far away as distant hills, because the caged bird sings about freedom.The free bird thinks about another breeze, and about the global winds that blow from east to west and make the trees sound as if they are sighing, and he thinks of the fat worms waiting to be eaten on the lawn in the early morning light, and he says he owns the sky.But a caged bird stands on the grave of his own dead dreams, and his dream-self screams from the nightmares he has. His wings are trimmed down and his feet are tied, so he opens his throat to sing.The caged bird sings fearfully of things he does not know, but still wants, and his song can be heard from as far away as distant hills, because the caged bird sings about freedom.

12. Write a letter to your mother explaining how labour never goes in vain.

ANS- My Dear Mother,
I became glad to receive your letter yesterday and to know your welfare. You seems to be anxious about my studies. I am labouring hard towards preparation of my examination. I am hopeful of doing statisfactorily well in the examination to be held shortly. “Hard labour is the pillar of success” is a reality. It never goes in vain. All great men achieved name and fame due to their devotion and continuous efforts to reach the destination of their desired objective. Immortality lies in their efforts by hard labour. Your and Papa’s valuable advice always inspires and guides me of devotion towards my aims and objects and restrict me of doing wrong.
